I wanna be your firecracker

I’ve been playing with my new iPod today, and it’s really cool. Cooler than I even expected. I like how it has parachute on it, as well as the music quiz, which would be a fun diversion.

The thing that is frustrating about it is finding a case. It seems the 60GB version is slightly thicker than the 40GB, and all the case manufacturers just assume their 40GB cases will fit the 60GB. Well, not all will. I picked up a set of three silicone sleeves from CompUSA last night that claimed to fit all new iPods - HA! Not only was it a struggle to get the sleeve onto my iPod, once it was on it wasn’t square and the flap wouldn’t close all the way, leaving the bottom susceptible to scratches. So I returned them today. Then I went to Microcenter, and they didn’t really have any that I liked at a price I wanted to pay. I’m glad I decided to not buy the one that I was tempted by because when I checked reviews for it, they were less than stellar. I just want a silicone sleeve that doesn’t build up lots of dust, is not too expensive, and will fit my 60GB iPod photo.

I got a new CD in the mail yesterday. Road to Hana by The Lift. Really solid stuff with some songs that border on greatness, like “Bury the Lead,” “Favorite Record,” and “Firecracker.” Definitely check them out, but you won’t be able to find their CD in a store. You’d have to get it through their website or www.freshtracksmusic.com. EDIT: Shockingly, it’s available at iTMS.

For those who live in VA or have access to Dominion brand beverages, avoid their root beer. It sucks. It’s no IBC. Hell, it’s no Barq’s. I keep getting disappointed by their beverages, first beer now root beer, that I think I’ll have to put them on my Do Not Buy list. That’s a shame because I like to support the local guys when possible.

I don’t think I mentioned this, but Wegman’s opened up a grocery store about 200 yards from my apartment complex. If you’ve never shopped at a Wegman’s, it’s a high-concept grocery store with a lot of prepared foods and a excellent reputation for quality and service. My sister swears by them ever since she moved to upstate NY, where they’re based. Gotta make sure you shop their sales, because they are slightly more expensive than Giant or Safeway, but overall it’s a very nice grocery store. Now, if the lines would just go down. I’ve been in there three times since it opened a week ago (since I can just walk over when I discover I need something) and every time it’s been a madhouse. I hope another week or two will help things settle down over there. Or who knows, maybe the amount of people will stay constant and it’ll always be packed.
