I hate moving

January 4th, 2005 by matt

I’ve started packing for my move this Saturday (I’m moving to an apartment that is 2 miles from work in Fairfax). I have far too much crap. I could never be a nomad, that’s for sure. Just my CDs, DVDs, and books alone would kill a camel.

I went to my first NBA game on Sunday. I took Marci for her birthday. Our seats were on the second level of the MCI Center right at half court, so the view was superb. After the game we walked around for a bit and stumbled upon an auto show in the DC convention center. I had never been to an auto show, so that was interesting. Not as many concept cars as I thought there would be, but it was neat to see (and sit) in some cars that I’ll never be able to afford. Not too much swag from the show either, just a CD sampler that the Scion booth was giving out.

After the auto show, we ate at a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown (because the MCI Center is in Chinatown and so is a Metro stop). Fantastic food, the best Chinese I’ve ever had. It was actually dinner and a show because right after we sat down, two kids tried to run out on the check. They sprinted out the door and the waiter chased after them. About five minutes later, he had one of the kids in tow and dragged him upstairs, which just happened to be a karate school. We didn’t see the kid again that night, nor did we see the police. I can only imagine what happened to the kid… Serves him right, though. What vermin runs out on a check? That’s just unbelievable.

Well, I doubt I’ll be updating again for a little while because I’ve got to pack every night after work and next weekend will be devoted to moving.
